What kind of fruiting tree is this?

This is growing in my yard and the birds love it. I am hoping someone can fill me in on the name of this. It is fruiting right now (July) and I live in Atlanta, GA. The berries have a sort of speckled pattern and are slightly oblong on short stems. The leaves almost remind me of cherry or apple leaves. They don't look like any kind of cherry I've ever seen.

  1. I think your tree might be a wild black cherry tree, but it also looks like a choke cherry. Here are links to pictures of both trees to help you make a positive id.

    . but don't know about the spotted  look.... if it was the chokecherry, they'd turn very dark purple later on..... and show up like this
