  2. Hydrogen peroxide is destroyed by the enzyme catalase which converts H2O2 into water and oxygen. I suspect that some traces of catalase remain in the fecal material and because it has a large turnover number it will convert hydrogen peroxide into the products above and liberate O2

  3. H2O2 is avery strong oxidising agent. When mixed with faeces which is an organic substance it would be expected that the major gas emitted would be CO2. Faeces also contains nitrogen from the protein component of out diet, so some oxides of nitrogen could be expected. Methane would be produced in a reducing environment, and woukd not be an expected gas.
