If an engineering student graduates with a 3.2 CGPA, 1420 GRE and Design team Captainship. Also, I am the youngest graduate in my school's 128 year old history (at age 19).

What kind of grad school do you think I can get into??

  1. I wouldn't necessarily pay attention to that past guy, not all graduate school's care about just life experiences, there is no harm in applying and seeing what you get.  Engineering schools tend to weigh heavily on the gre and gpa (i'm not an engineer but this seems to be what goes on with my friends).  What's your quantitative portion of the GRE, from what I've heard it is very important to have a really high quantitative (close--if not--800) if you want to get into a really good engineering school.  I say give some applications a shot, if you don't get in anywhere, what have you lost?  A couple hundred bucks on applications?  You're an engineer, you can afford it.  Most kids your age are still in college anyway, so if you are able to get in without having to take time off for work experience, go for it.  You'll be done around the same time as other students (earlier if you're only doing a masters) and you'll have a higher degree.

  2. At 19 you should not go to Grad school yet. Go out and get some life experience first. Applying with just a good GPA and GRE is not enough. Schools, and consequently employers, like more life experience. Congratulations on graduating early, but there is more to life than just school so you should go explore.
