  1. the Persian market near me has fresh ones.  Type doesn't matter.  If you can't get fresh they come bottled or canned at most Middle Eastern food stores.

  2. It doesn't matter what kind. Pick the smaller leaves they are more tender. This is an excellent site with instructions how to make them.

  3. If they are fresh from the vine you'll have to clean they very well because pesticides are often used. I suggest you buy them in a store and better yet in a jar.

  4. If you are picking them yourself from wild grape vines you will most likely find Concord grape vines. You want young ones (more tender) as big as you can find (so can hold more filling), and you want to avoid ones with holes made by insects.

  5. Some markets sell them packed in a jar, ready to fill.
