  1. Before they realised these people were not tourists it was "How......about a game of 'you give me, I give you'. "

After they realised these people were not tourists it was "How.....about a game of 'Catch the arrow with your face'. "

  2. There's no one general answer really. Each group dealt with it differently. Some were naturally wary of or welcoming to outsiders. Remember there's some groups that hadn't had contact until fairly late, but they'd heard enough stories and seen the impacts from their neighbors so they knew to be leary. Others were welcoming at first. Many were open to trade, but some of those opposed to settlement. It really depends on the group and time.

  3. The native americans taught the original pilgrims basic survival skills in a hostile land.  How to plant and grow their food, when to plant and when to harvest.  They shared the first thanksgiving together.

  4. Squanto greeted the Pilgrims with the words, "Welcome, Englishmen!". Much to their surprise.  It was the beginning of a long and cordial relationship that lasted until nearly all of the original Pilgrims were dead.
