  1. While I do not ascribe to the baseball grip.....for a beginner its passable.   If you truely want to improve and be able to work your shots,  The Vardon or overlapping grip are preferable due to the fact they actually give you more control of the club head.

  2. Nothing wrong with baseballing it. As long as you can feel all aspects of your game then there is no issue. The Vardon or overlapping grip is great for the player that would rather feel the club in the last 3 fingers of the top hand. The interlocking grip has this feel as well but there is a little more pressure at the top of the bottom hand and some say more control. Tiger uses the interlocking grip. It is a feel game and it is what you feel is benefitting your game that will suit your needs. My personal preference is the Vardon and I have not worn a glove for 30 years.

  3. I think it should be about comfort only. Go with whatever is more comfortable. Golf Greats Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus both use the interlocking grip, while Arnold Palmer and more contemporary golfer Vijay Singh use the overlapping or "Vardon" grip. So it really doesn't matter, just go with what works, thats all that truly counts. I have always used the interlocking grip simply because it was more comfortable to me, and I do not have small hands.

  5. The Vardon or overlap grip is very good for people with long fingers. The index finger of the lead hand( the one on top)is covered by the pinky of the bottom hand thereby locking the hands so that they work in unison.  T he interlock grip has the index finger  interlocked with the pinky of the right hand . As many know Tiger uses the interlock grip. Regardless of the grip you use remember that you do not strangle the grip. As Sam Snead said " Imagine  you are holding a small bird in both hands and you don't want to hurt them".

  6. I started out with a baseball grip and it took me a long time just to go to a convential grip without interlock or overlap.  I know use a interlock grip and try and make sure that my v's of my thumbs face my right shoulder.

I read in tiger woods book that when he was younger and changing to a new grip, his dad would make him grip the club the new way and his dad would tape his hands to club and make him keep them there for a day.

That's a little extreme, but go to the range and hit a bucket of balls with a new grip.  Don't completely jump from a baseball grip to an interlock, make small changes at first, that will definetly help.

  7. My best suggestion would be see your pro at your club and just get him to help you out. Good Luck.

    Have a good one...

  8. I talked to a local pro and she actually recommends that beginners start with a baseball grip and after that I believe it's just preference. I would recommend going to the range and experimenting with the overlap and interlock. If those don't work out, go ahead and use the baseball if it's comfortable.

  9. I use interlock, but I'm a 14 year old girl with small hands. It helps me keep my grip all together. It works for me, but I'd just stick with what's natural.
