I'm thinking a Strat with Humbucker pickups.

  1. NO. don't get a strat. get a kramer. the strat's whammy bar makes it go out of tune very easily. the kramer has floyd rose bridge and chuck on it. it's much better and doesn't go out of tune near as easily, however, i would put some better pick ups on it.

  2. I wouldn't recommend a strat for shredding. I own a Parker Fly, it's light as a feather and it has a great rich sound.

If looking for something cheaper, try the Ibanez Joe Satriani signature model (JS100). It also feels great and has a great shredding humbucker sound. You can get the cheaper model for $800. Satriani shreds and uses the whammy bar.
