What kind of heat is cheaper to heat up a room size of 300 sq.ft area?

My question is which one is cheaper Gas heat OR Electric AC/Heat combination window unit (upstate NY) , I have a studio apartment of around 300 sq.ft to rent to a student .

  1. If available, gas is cheapest. Due to the size of the room it may be best for you to use the Heat Pump window unit.

  2. I WOULD HAVE TO  SAY A WINDOW HEATPUMP UNIT,YOU GET THE BEST OF BOTH FROM ONE UTILITY CO. BESIDES W/ALL THE NEW TECH.TODAY WINDOW UNITS HAVE BECOME VERY COST EFFECTIVE
