What kind of helicopter was airwolf ?

It was a Bell 222. It was modified to include the dummy weapons and the jet nozzles at the back.

The helicoper used in the Airwolf T.V. series was a Bell 222A. In the series it had small turbo jet engines mounted on each side of thecraft. When turbos are engaged the clutch to the rotors disengage and is capable of speeds of mach 1.5.

Above answer is correct.  It then had a bunch of plywood glued to it to make it look cooler.  The plywood was just painted black to look like metal.
