  1. Yes, it is. We are (most of us) Orthodox christians and many of the holidays devoted to the saints are celebrated by the orthodox calendar (2 weeks after catholics). First as everywhere we celebrate New years Eve.. Most of the times we even celebrate 2nd of Jan (what can we do, we like to party ;o)

Than, there is 5th of Jan, we usually gather out and light big fires, drink warm rakiya (ask your father, he must've tried it) and dance

Than it's 6th of Jan (Badnik). Early in the morning (4-5 a.m.) bunch of kinds ring on your door and you treat them with money, candies, fruits... We stay the night at home, the family is gathered and have a family meal. There is a special bread that is made for that day with a coin in it. It is believed that the person that get's the part of the bread with the coin , will be lucky all year long.

Than it's Christmas (7th of Jan)

On Jan 14th we celebrate the Orthodox New Year (Stara Nova Godina), new year's Eve according to the orthodox calendar.

Than it's Vodici (19th of Jan). It is a tradition in every city or place to be trown a cross in the river (by the priest) and people jump in the water to get it. It is also beliebed that the one that will catch it will be lucky and blessed

We celebrate Easter in April or May

than there is 1st of May, celebrated as everywhere in the world

24 the of May the day of the Slavic Apostoles, Saints Cyril and Mathodius, the ones that created cyrillic alphabet

2nd of August, one of the biggest Macedonian holidays. It is the day of the Ilinden Uprising back in 1903 and the day of the first republic on the Balkans after the Ottoman Rule, Krusevo Republic( the home town of Tose Proeski, our angel and national icon. Have you heard of him?) The Republic only lasted 10 days

The National Day is 8th of September, the day when back in 1991 we got independence from Yugoslavia

11 of October, The day of the Revolutionary fight...

p.s, I might have skipped some, these were the ones that i recalled at the moment. We also have tradition on a special date to celebrate a name day (slava). Have you heard about that?
