I live in Hong Kong and I am doing a copmany research about potential of home electric appliances market in India. I have a few questions. can anyone help?

1. what kind of home appliances indians usually buy?

2. usually the home electric appliances is imported from other countries or made domastically in India?

3. Indian prefer to buy cheap but workable or expensive branded products?

4. where indians buy their home electric appliances from?

  1. Hello,

    1. Indians buy fans, air coolers, air conditioners since it is a tropical country. Refrigerators, Television, Audio sets, DVD players are the entertainment range. Some use Vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, Mixers and microwave ovens. The grinding machine is a must in south india.

    2. There are also imported goods from Kenstar, Panasonic and so on and there are also local makers like Godrej etc.

    3. Since, India has people in all living classes, the craze for branded products is a bit low which is now being boosted by awesome advertisements. On the whole, Indians prefer cheap but workable products.

    4. Usually there are dealers who are dealing with certain company product range alone. Sometimes there are also who specialise in one particular product but will have all companies producing that product in his shop. Big supermarkets have the entire range of products where one has wide choices to choose from...
