I already have a little sock buddy, a paper plate, a toilet paper roll with hay inside it, a towel, and a paper bag with snacks inside it. I need something for my piggle's claws though. What kind for each?

  1. i don't excatly get the last part of the question either, but i will be glad to suggest a chew hut for your guinea pig's claws AND teeth. I am not sure if you would like to use a hamster toy, but it works because it would scratch and chew on it!

Since you said homemade, i am guessing you wouldn't want to go out and buy the hut, why not just make one!

Get a bunch of popsicle sticks and glue them together with care. You could make it big enough for it to hide in, or to just play with.  Once that is done, kind of flavor it by rolling it in some of it's favorite foods.

I am not sure if that will work perfectly, but it is just something i kinda thought of.  Teehee!!! :)  Hope this helps and good luck with your guinea pigs!

  2. i dont really understand the question, but i found that guinea pigs like toys that they can hide in, so i would recommend boxes for them to sleep in

  3. maybe like a chunk of wood?

  4. I make wooden toys for my pets, if you have a saw and some safe wood glue you are set.

I made my pet a little house that had a climbing structure on top...my pet was a hamster but I'm sure the guinea pig would appreciate a little wooden house or something like that.  I even got some safe paint and decorated it putting my hamsters name on the side of the house.

It turned out very well for me and my hamster absolutely loved it.

also, kleenex boxes are good and if you put shredded toilet paper or kleenex in them guinea pigs love to play in that.  I usually connect the boxes to make a bigger play area for my pet, sometimes my guinea pig even makes its bed/nest in the box because the shredded kleenex is so soft!

  5. a toilet paper roll? your guinea pig would get stuck!!!

I raise guinea pigs, and I have found that there are a lot of fun toys you can make...

they love playing in paper lunch bags, or old boxes (not for chemicals) with any tape or glue removed.

As for wearing down their nails, just trim them with human nail trimmers. make sure not to cut into the pink part of the nail.if you do, use some corn starch to stop the bleeding. I hope this helps :)
