  1. hello there.

i memeber getting my first horse.

    congrats!!!

maybe a more aged horse would be better. i took lessons but doing it all on your own with a 5 year old stallion is no fun (trust me, that was my situaiton)

and i got bucked off, dragged, and i broke 4 ribs.

needless to say i sold my big boy.

please dont make the same mistake i did.

but i hope you the best! and i know you will make the right decision!

    :]

  2. Training is what you need to look for. A horse that is for beginners. The breed is not important!! You should look for a gelding 7yrs to 16yrs. Here is a good list to start with. But these are safe for you to start with. Do yourself a favor & do not get a horse that is too much for you. It is nothing to be ashamed of!!! If you have a great horse then it makes for fun rides!! If not then you could really get hurt! Hope this helps! Good luck!!!

  3. just lease an all around pleasure horse that can pretty much just do a little of everything, usually pleasure horses are pretty cheap so you shouldnt have trouble fiding one, but if you want to specialize in a dicipline you will have more trouble with price and if you want to show in a particualr dicipline then prices go up even more so it all depends on what you want to do and how much you can afford.

    good luck!

  4. I personally love Quarter Horses. I promise you will too! They can do it all!

  5. I cant really tell you what breed to get for a all around horse because all around horses can be any kind of breed.

  6. breed and horse doesnt matter I dont think your ready for a horse if all you took was 5 classes in 1 year. that doesnt handle out to 5 years that just handles out to you have been riding very little and may not know everything about horses. Trying not to be rude but horses are very expensive and are not like dogs they need to be treated differently.  And with the economy crapping out on us do you think you can handle the expenses and what a horse needs? because I believe you need to take more classes and learn reality when it comes to horses that they are more than just wanting but loving and caring.

Age doesnt matter you could be 19 and only just rode a horse and wanted one. I know anyone can tell the difference between a dog but yesterday someone saw a horse as a lawn ornament. So not all take to heart that there is more to a horse.

Heck I am 21 with a certificat in training and giving lesson with horses but I lease a horse because I dont know everything and I know I wont put a horse in danger because I just want one. Heck I didnt even get a dog till I knew a year on all breeds I wanted and then did puppy leasing too on all breeds I wanted. Take your time. Dont rush is all I am getting at and know your horses. Sorry not trying to be rude I know it sounds like it but I just dont want you or the horse to get hurt!

Also I answered that same question earlier. you will see it when you Ridings answer.

<--female lol but it happens, thanks though.

  8. I agree with the folks who said a well trained horse. Look for one that you will have fun on & not be on a horse that is too much. That is not safe or fun. Don't jump into any horse, look hard & awhile for the right one! Don't buy from looks either. Some of the funniest, ugliest horses can be the best horse ever. So just go by the training for the horse. I'd also look for one around 9yrs, & I agree a gelding. Enjoy! Be safe.

  9. Any horse lover is always ready for a horse :)! it dosent matter how old you are or your level of experience! QUARTER HORSES ARE GOOD ALROUNDERS!but appys and unraced thoroughbreds are a nce reliable breed too. Sometimes crossbreeds are more reliable than purebreds so just dont buy the first one you see. and ride the horse you look at, if it makes you nervous dont buy it. buy something you feel happy n comfy on!

    i hope this helps you!

  10. Well put a little more discriptive view of your riding capabilities..but i have two throughbreds. they are very well rounded but you want one thats a little older because they are very hyper when below the age of 5!!hope i helped thanks!

  11. I wouldn't search for horses just by breed.

And btw, Star isn't being rude, he answer prolly the best answer on this page.

  12. I love my Quarters.. they really are America's horse.. because they can do just about everything and are so versitile!

  13. Honestly,d on't go by breed, find a good, safe horse that you can learn off of. breed shouldn't matter unless you want to do breed shows ors omething. Just find a good horse that is safe, or you get along with.
