  1. Beautiful bracelet made from beads.

  2. My cousin had the kids paint little terra cotta pots with oil paints for putting stuff in on their dressors. Get paints, foam stamps, brushes, glue, sequins and jewels so they can get really creative!!! You could even paint them all white ahead of time so they have a good solid backfround that isn't "terra cotta" colored.

The candle making idea sounds awesome too though!!! I'll have to remember than for my daughter's 17th birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to your birthday person!!! Sounds like they will have fun!

  3. I think you could buy a lot of pots diffrent shapes and sizes. Buy some paint let the children decorate the pots they way they like and make it a keepsake. OR/AND you could give them a lot of gems, paint, lace and news paper they could mae paper bags and later you could tell them how much paper bags reduce global warming. hope this helped

  4. Make candles! You need:

    1) A block of paraffin wax - about $12 for a 5lb block.

    2) Wick - about $5 for 100yds.

    3) Pencils/pens/chopsticks, whatever - Free or $1 from Dollar Store.

    4) Large paperclips - $1 for a box of 100

    5) A couple boxes of primary colors Crayola crayons - $2

    6) One pair of old nylon stockings - FREE

Set up double boilers on your stove using pots of water with tin cans for the different colors of wax. Throw in pieces of Crayola crayons for coloring the wax (you only need a really SMALL piece...Crayolas are very rich in pigment. You may need bigger pieces if you use a different brand. Too much crayon and the candlewax will be too dark, you won't see the color).  You could also choose to use old Tupperware or measuring cups and melt everything in a microwave instead.

Each kid gets a paper cup (or if you wanna get really fancy and let them make big pillar candles, they can use the containers from frozen concentrate juice...they're the perfect size.) Tie one end of the wick to a paperclip to weigh it down, and to a pencil on the other end to lay across the opening of the cup, to hold it up.  They get to layer the colors as they wish (if you use tin cans, they can just pour the wax in directly from the can), let each color set, then choose their next color.  You can have little charms or glass beads for them to add to the wax to make "treasure" candles.  If you run out of a color, just melt up some more, it only takes a minute.

Then you go, play games or eat cake or whatever for an hour. You come back to set candles and peel off the paper cups/containers.  They'll be dull from the paper, so you give each kid a piece of old nylong stocking to polish it up.  Trust me, the polishing alone occupies them for a good 20 minutes!

It sounds potentially messy, depending on the group of kids involved, but it's a ton of fun, and if you set things up well it's actually minimal mess.

  5. This age loves to bead..you can get so many pretty glass ones for great prices. Also, they like hair and nails..so any kind of nail painting/hair idea is great too. I'm assuming you mean for a girl??

Decorating T shirts is another idea.
