What kind of information should I have handy to get a quote on a new home purchase homeowner's insurance?

Also, what should I make sure is included in the insurance.? Any tips on lowering the rates?

  1. Any information that you have on your new house would be helpful. Square footage is the big one. Also, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, size of key rooms, etc. If you have the paperwork from your realitor, you should have most of what you need.

    As far as lowering the rates, just make sure to ask about any discounts you may be entitled to. One of the biggest discounts you can get is a multi-line discount for having your vehicles and your house in the same place. Look for someone that can do that for you.

  2. Lower rates - with higher deductibles and a great credit score.

    You'll need LOTS Of info, including the address of the house, the year built, construction info, update information for wiring, heating, roofing, electric; the square footage of the house, and probably lots more that I am forgetting.
