Question:

What kind of insect is this? And, is it dangerous?

It's body was about the size of my thumb. It looked very beetle-like, and had a green body with a red head (the colors glistened). I am not sure if it had 4 or six legs, but they were black legs. It also had these SMALL cupid-like antlers, and could fly.

If anyone can help, I would be grateful.

  1. In general brightly colored insects are either bad tasting or venomous.  Or they are trying to make you think they are.  The color is their way of telling a bird "Go ahead, make my day."

A photo would be nice and some idea of where in the world you live.   Any insect the size of your thumb is a BIG sucker.
