Im getting ready for college and I saw a show on animal planet that had these people working with tigers they had saved from a very bad place. The show i saw they had just opened up a free roaming habitat for them and had tried too see what was wrong with a very old tiger that wasnt eating and having seizures. Does anyone know where this is at or how to contact them? how to start working for them? or what classes i would have to take in college to be able to work with lions and tigers, or any sort of wild animal?

  1. Wildlife Rehabilitators.

Here is a site that has lots of information for you.

These kinds of jobs require plenty of science and math classes and the ability to lead. Many jobs require experience with wildlife and supervisory experience.

Here's a clip from the site...

"Jobs are usually found in areas with high human populations. The larger wildlife rehabilitation centers are typically located near these areas due to the more frequent interactions between humans and wildlife. These centers are usually large enough to offer a variety of jobs covering the many aspects of wildlife rehabilitation. Daily feeding and cage cleaning, medical treatment, public education, accounting and recordkeeping, biology, behavior and natural history of animals, and fundraising are a few examples. "

  2. I'm not sure what show you are talking about since I can't watch animal planet where I live.

But I think you are talking about animal rescue/sanctuaries.

Contact them to find out what they require to work there. There are some that offer camps, internships, and/or volunteer opportunities. This is a great way to gain experience before, during, and/or after college. It may also help you get a job working there.

What classes will depend on how you want to work with tigers and what the requirements are of the job.

    Some degrees might be:

    Zoology

    Wildlife Management

    Animal Science

    Ethology

    Wildlife Biology

    Wildlife Veterinarian
