  1. volunteer work at your local community theatre.  ;)

  2. First of all, and with no offense, similar to # 1 and # 2, It may depend on what exactly you want or hope for.

Certainly it can't Hurt you in any theatrical pursuits.

It's been 40 years since I was at University, but one of my first courses of study was a 2 year degree in Theater Technology. I've used it often, ever since.

Assuming by JOB MARKET you refer specifically to Theater, it is certainly a resume notation, and you had to learn something. The issue,,,again, might be your expectations in the craft, more than any education about "how to." Obviously one could hardly expect it to be much help in an accounting career, but the fact that you had the initiative to attend any formal education, is to your benefit.

Beyond that notion however, even a degree in Rocket Science, isn't a promise of anything. WORK, self promotion, self solicitation, long, hard hours at anything, dedication, passion for the whatever, certainly contribute more to the success of any venture.

I spent 6 years at NYU, with multiple degrees I no longer use.

  3. McDonalds is always hiring

  4. I would suggest you get a BA or a BFA.  This will make you more marketable and give you more experience.  Theatre Degrees are often split between different focuses...

    Acting, Technical, Directing, or Teaching.
