OK, well...my family is almost broke. And being a teenage girl, i love money and shopping. and stuff, haha. but i also want to help support my family. my mom is going back to work, so we should be on track really soon, and i dont want to spend the money that we could be using the live. so i think that i should get a job. I am 13, and i live in the renton, WA. Any job will work...perferrabbly something simple and not too diffacult, like a busgirl (I have expierence being a bus girl and a waitress, as well as a dishwasher. the power went out for a week at my moms old work and some of the workers couldnt get to work so i filled in. i did a great job.) and i dont want too many hours...like, flexible. I want to spend time during summer too. I am a really hard worker, just like my mom, and love people. Im open and outgoing, and a very bubbly person.

Does anyone know any jobs that i could do in the renton area? I konw you need to be 14...but i really need the money.

thanks.

  1. My kids have earned money doing odd jobs like chopping wood, cleaning up yards, the regular babysitting jobs, lawn mowing and weeding.  They have been "mother's helpers" where they did what ever a busy mom with young children needed. Most mom's need help with vacuuming or whatever. Sometimes elderly people need help with their yard or housework and they appreciate your company. They often are on a fixed income so they may not pay as well but their stories and friendship are worth it. and they often feed you too.  The pay varied. Also, church youth groups often have people call in for odd jobs that they need a willing teenager to do.  My kids have also made stuff to sell at the Farmers Market - like jewelry or pictures or even note cards.  Don't give up - if you are willing and available, you can find things to do.  Also, churches hire people your age for special babysitting gigs. Where we live you can make anywhere from $5.00 an hour to at least minimum wage but you have to go through the security screening. I also have my kids take CPR. First Aid and get a Food handlers card. There is also a Babysitting certification that helps on your resume.  At 12, you can get jobs at the local fairs in food service during the summer.

  2. Babysitting, dog walking, pet sitting.

Put the word out with your friends.  I got my first babysitting job at 14, I told my mom's friend and her neighbor needed someone 1 day per week.  She paid me $25.00 for one day of 3-5 hours for one child!!!  And, at first, she stayed at the home in her office while me and the baby played in the baby's room & living room.  Eventually the mom left us to run errands after the baby was used to me.  Of course all of the jobs were not that great.  I also kept 4 kids for 4 hours and got $5.00 !!! that didn't even pay for my gas to get there!!!
