What kind of jobs can a 17-18 year old get?

I don't really have any interest whatsoever in fast food type of stuff..I like physical work, problem solving, things intriguing like that..

so, what're some suggesstions?

If you are between semesters at high school or just getting in to college or university, you might want to take a look at some summer temp positions with a large company operating within your area. There are often entry level jobs that pay well and help you to get your foot in the door.

I started out working in a warehouse as a summer temp with a large telecommunications company when I got out of high school. They paid for my forklift and air brakes training, as well as any additional training that was required to do my job. Every year I would apply again, typically in January or February, for the upcoming summer. I would get re-hired because people remembered who I was. Now it's 10 years later, and I am a Service manager involved with a number of large projects and new initiatives that keep me working hard and learning new things.
