By 2029, a computer as powerful as the human brain will cost $1.

So basically, robots will be able to do anything we do. So what jobs can people do?

  1. Medical professions will always have to have humans involved.

  2. Personally, I've watched many videos on this prophecy that computers will be smarter than humans. One video ("Did you know 2.0" to be exact: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMcfrLYDm... ) even went to the extremities saying that one computer in the future will have the ability to surpass the computational abilities of the whole human race! I've watched enough videos to come to the conclusion that they are fake. No computer will have the ability to even match the intelligence or abilities of the Human brain. Computer scientists are even till this day are still bickering on the definition of what "intelligence" is, so to say that a computer will be smarter than all of us is a naive, cherubic statement made by Dr. Frankensteins all over the world who have seen better days.

If I remember correctly, people who were living during the 1940-1950 era were believing that by 2000, they would be living in a period where people are living forever, virtual reality systems becoming more prominent as well as the flying cars. Of course 2000 passed and what the multitudes have seen are probably worse than expected. I will however give credit to the rising computational abilities in computers (In 1995 I believe, a computer called Deep Blue beat Chess grandmaster Gary Kasparov). But it is nowhere near even a tenth of that of a Human's intelligence.

Moving on and addressing your primary question, I can only predict. The video I uploaded to this answer states the possibilities of future jobs. Personally speaking, I believe jobs will be more home-based as we have seen a rise in home-businesses. This is not to say that people will not go out to work anymore. I think more people will be sitting at home doing work rather than going out to do it. There are benefits of doing such and I think it's needless for me to say it. I believe that jobs that will not be so prominent in the future are jobs which include teaching, because I have a gut feeling that the education system will use computers to take the place of teachers by offering virtually-simulated characters to teach kids.

    I can only guess.

We'll have to wait and see.
