Ok I have a sister who has been working with a company call Mountaire(chicken processing plant) for 10 years! For the first time now she's pregnant and has suffer a lot with this pregnancy. She's been pregnant for about 5 months, which means she still has months to go. She has a lot of pain on one side so she wants to stay home until she has the baby, but the company and the supervisor are denying her request and sometimes she even has to work for 10 hours!!! She also requested to only work for 8 hours but they also deny that saying that if her department works needs to work 10 hours she also needs to work those 10 hours. Can you help me with a link or any information that will help us to put a stop to this because they are always like that and I think is discrimination against hispanic people, but I can't prove it. Please help me with any law or link. Thank you for taking the time to read or answering my question.

  1. Don't pull the race card.

She needs to go to her doctor and get a note to bring in to work.

  2. I think this depends on the state you live in. I would try to find out through your state's labor (.gov) website. And, btw, you're not "pulling the race card." Hispanics are frequently discriminated against in the workplace and it's a problem that does not get enough exposure. Don't listen to the other poster.

After doing your preliminary research on your state's labor laws, I'd try to get some legal advice. you should be able to get initial legal counseling for free, you'll just have to ask around a bit. Take care and good luck
