Question:

What kind of legal investigations take place in response to a suicide?

I am writing a book, and a character commits suicide in the presence of someone else. They are both minors. There was nothing the girl could do from stopping the suicide. A suicide note was left with the family. The girl testifies that it was suicide. Would the girl who witnessed it be a suspect of murder? How long would it take for police to confirm that it was in fact a suicide? How much would the witness be questioned? (Her record is clear). I just really need to make this realistic, so if anyone knows what exactly happens after something like this takes place in real life, please give me all the information you have. THANK YOU!

  1. thay clean up the body and the grile is scared for life

  2. The vast majority of suicides (at least those I have investigated) are obvious. It depends on the method however. Pills less so, guns often very obvious. There are tell tale signs of a gun death, if it is suicide that would not be appropriate to discuss in this forum. There are so many ways that without further information on the method in your book it is hard to address.

  3. I lost my fiance to suicide and was home with him when he ended his life. I do not really want to go into details on this forum but if you would like to email me that would be fine. I can explain the whole process.
