What kind of legal recourse can I take to get my creditor to give me an extended forbearance on my account?

  1. Forbearance is a student loan term, so I assume that you mean forcing a student loan lender to give you a forbearance.

    If they are student loans, there is nothing you can do legally beyond applying for one and crossing your fingers.

    If you are in a bind, you can go back to school part time and probably get your payments deferred. Just sign up a local junior college or something.

    If they aren't student loans, there is nothing I can see that you can do beyond, again, applying for one and crossing your fingers.
