What state are you in?

California requires a Class C (car) license.

Check your state's DMV website. I'm sure it's on there.

If it's over 800kg you need a car licence(I think!).

Car licence is ok if you dont have a bike licence. you can also ride a trike if you only have a bike licence A trike is not classified as a bike. I considered a trike after failing my bike test. Have fun xx

Hi; In south Carolina it's an endorsement (d) added to your regular license...This is for three-wheeler, r motorcycle with side car..If you have motorcycle license u can granfather to your auto license as an endorsement..then your auto license is a class AM in SC..don't know about other states..have a good day..

you can ride it on either (in the UK) my dad lost his bike license when he lost leg, but he used to ride his trike on his car licence

The answer is quite complicated.  First it depends on weight and second if you get it wrong no one will take responsibility for what they have told you.

In NH a trike is classed as a motorcycle.

A motorcycle license or endorsement is needed.

Thank God for Dan B talking some sense! Yes it depends on what you mean by a trike - it goes on weight like Dan says - if your trike is OVER this weight limit it will be class as a car and therefore you will need a full catergory B licence.

If it is under the weight limit you need catergory B1 which is covered automatically by having a full catergory B (car) licence, or by having a full catergory A (motorbike) licence so therefore if you have either a bike or car licence you WON'T need to take any extra test :)

and it CAN'T be a bike can it... BIcycle..(two wheels) its in the same category as plastic pigs... pass your bike test and you can drive one... (pass your car test and you wouldnt want to)
