Ive heard that it might be a general contractor's license but I'm not sure. Other sources have said a license is not necessary.

  1. Depends on the state.  These things are regulated at the state level.

  2. You would need nothing more than a city business license... just like everyother business in your town.

  3. you would need a business license but you don't need a contractor license if you aren't going to be contracting the re-surfacing of the parking lot/streets. that means--people don't come to you looking to have their parking lot re-surfaced, sealed and painted.  you would have to hire a paving co to do the paving which would make you a contractor.  if you are simply the guy that comes along and paints the signage--then you just need the business lisence.

  4. Usually a license is required if your doing any sort of city/township/municipality work...it would be a Contractor's license.

  5. You probably wouldn't need a special license unless a specific client required one in their contract.  Sometimes when you work for the state they have higher requirements for licensing and insurance than a local business.
