What kind of life do...?

People around Mexico City live? I've heard that the crime rate is high. I live in Vegas...crime is ridiculous here but I wonder if it'll be the same as here but in cities AROUND Mexico City. Not D.F. I know crime here but can anyone give me a good idea of how life is there for the average citizen? Please provide a source from a good website if you can. Thank you!
