Im about to go to school in a big city but I am worried that the social scene will be mainly clubs, where I am not really that kind of extroverted person who would through themselves out there in a club. However, I do like the concept of going to school in a city. If anyone has gone to school in a city, what is the social life like? I am going to Chicago.

  1. You are going to have a great time in Chicago. One of my kids went to school there and he wouldn't come home! He just kept trying to get us to visit him in Chicago so that he could show us all the fun stuff he was doing. He totally loved it. There are museums and restaurants and parks and concerts of every kind of music from folk to rock to classical, and bike paths and sailing on the lake and lots and lots of student activities like charity walks and habitat for humanity, everything you can possibly think of.

    Have a ball!

  2. Trust me, you can have an actual life without having to go out to clubs all the time! I lived in a city most of my life (Atlanta) and wanted to go to a more rural place. Where I'm at now is more low key, but that sure doesn't stop people from partying . . . It should be very cozy in the city, lots of things to do off campus.

Even then, there should be plenty of things to do on campus as well if you join groups or clubs, or just make a good group of friends! Don't be worried, people attract to each other so easily, and all the new students feel just like you! Have fun in Chicago (but not so much as to get in trouble)!
