Question:

What kind of light bulb is this?

It came with a reptile tank that i bought i personally have never seen one like this before i just would like to know what it produces

like is it just for heat or does it also give out uva/uvb

  1. Those are used at night to create heat without producing any light to disturb your pet's sleep cycle.  What type of animal did you get??  Some types of critters (nocturnal ones) don't need a day time basking heat bulb.  This type of bulb does NOT produce UVA/UVB.


  2. It looks like a "dayglo blue" bulb, look at the ring on the bottom where you held it, you should see markings as to what size/type it is. They call them full spectrum and I use for my "day cycle" along with the florescent UV bulb and basking spot light.

    It is a source of heat and UVA, but NOT UVB. If you have a reptile that requires UVB, then you will need a separate UVB source.

    This bulb should not be used at night.
