Question:

What kind of make up would make me look less pink?

I'm getting married soon and I tried on my dress wearing my current make up (Maybelline Neutral foundation, Prescription Formula Neutral powder, a light blush, neutral eye make up), and my face really looked pink compared to the more "brown" quality of my neck and shoulders. My face has always been fair and hard to tan, but how can I even it out with the rest of me for the wedding? Would a bronzer help? My eye colour is dark brown, as is my hair, and I find that I look tired a lot, too ... should I be getting someone else to do my make up on this special day or would it be something that me, a make up inept person, can handle?

Help if you can! Thanks! :)

  1. Hi! The reason this is happening is the color you picked has pink undertones to it. I am a professional makeup artist and I hate to break it to you, but I almost NEVER use any foundation with pink undertones in it on my clientele. It is well known in the makeup artist world that almost everyone looks better using a yellow under toned foundation. I highly recommend getting a new foundation instead of trying to figure a way to match your body color to your head. Pink is just not appealing and by using bronzer etc... will just make you look more pink as many of them have red undertones. I would recommend faerie organic minerals, as I use these on all my clientele for their wedding days. 1) you can pick your color with undertone from their site (under the mineral makeup tab and they tell you what undertone each color has so you can't get it wrong) 2) their makeup photographs flawlessly, leaving you with a dewy natural angelic glow. 3) it is ALL NATURAL! no irritating ingredients, cheap fillers, etc..  Their starter kit has everything you need to start and if you let them know you are getting married they give you all kinds of freebies with your order . Otherwise they have a FREE sample kit that comes with 2 foundation colors (so you can't go wrong, in your case I'd go with the light kit), sun kiss bronzer, and light diffusing mineral veil. I can't recommend it enough for your wedding day as this is the most important day to look flawless and gorgeous! Good Luck! ~ http://www.faerieorganic.com

  2. Perhaps you're overdoing it on the blush and that's making you look too pink? Try without and see how that looks. You might also consider going to a cosmetics store and having one of the associates help you choose colors that work best with your skin if you're not sure.

When is your wedding? If you have a lot of time to practice before your wedding, you could probably try different looks and perfect the one you want for your wedding if you want to do it yourself. However you do want to look perfect for your special day, so if you're really worried about it, I'd recommend having a makeup artist do your makeup that day.   I'm getting married soon as well, and I'm definitely going to have someone else do my makeup for me. :)  I know that I'll be worried about a lot of other things, and it would just take a lot of stress off of me to let a professional worry about my makeup so I won't have to worry about making a mistake and looking terrible!!

Congrats on the wedding, and good luck!

  3. Bare Escentuals make up would work b/c it looks SOOO natural.  The foundation and brozer are what I use, along with a little mineral veil, which keeps you matte.

Get a kit now and test it out before your wedding.  I have the same coloring as you, and I LOVE IT!

  4. watch this. It will look good with your pink face, It's more of the Pussycat Doll Nicole look. But it seems so cool for a pink face. Very darkish

  5. try using darker tones  but not to dark

  6. I have no idea, probably try a bronzer or even a different shade of foundation?

Congratulations on the wedding btw! xx

  7. Depending on how much time you have left before your wedding you could change your makeup i know neutrogena has more yellow tones so maybe that would even things out. You could also use a bronzer but if you use to much it can make you look dirty. So be careful. If you dont have much time left stay with the makeup you already have so you dont break out and maybe look at some different powders and just get a powder thats slightly darker and try that. Good luck! Congrats.

  8. if you look tired and have bags under your eyes,

use peach/tan pencil and run it under you eyes.

and then put cover up and bronzer (or what ever) over top like you normaly do.
