  1. Probably differential equations for Electrical Engineering.  I'm pretty sure that most of the math doesn't have to be done by a human anymore.  I would imagine that most everything is calculated using programs.


  2. addition and subtraction. really what did you expect? that doent even count  me filling out my expense reports and that is half of the job. any other math you use will most likely be very specific to a position as opposed to engineering.

    i dont know which one uses the most math. i just design motherboards. plenty of math in that but i have never done optics research.

  3. Civil's deal mostly with algebra and trig, sometimes an equation will require simple calculus.

  4. Mostly applied math, depending on the job. I have used math such as solving linear and nonlinear ODEs and PDEs, Laplace, Z and Fourier transforms, calculus, optimization, linear algebra, solving nonlinear equations in jobs that I have worked in.


  5. For mechanical engineering (the only type I can speak confidently about), most of the math is taken care of by computers in the industry.  CFD and finite-element algorithms are generally used to model the PDEs that are inhenerent in fluid mechanics, strength of materials, heat transfer, vibrations, and aerodynamics.  In the industry, the math you learned in college will only be used for preliminary calculations, because it'll be too difficult and inefficient to solve "real" problems by hand.  But, any (good) engineering program will require courses in differential, integral, and multivariable calculus, as well as ODEs, and they usually give an optional class in PDEs.

  6. Engineering jobs requires that one has the knowledge 9f College Algebra, Trigonometry, Differential and Integral Calculus, Differential Equations. All this are needed for Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials andTransmission Line Design.

    Electrical Engineering uses the most Math, since other branches may not include Differential Equations.

  7. Statistical Analysis - process control, linear regressions, DOE, Forces on objects, Circuit equations, linear and non-linear interpolation
