What kind of mattress should i get?

Question

I'm getting a new full bed and i need a new mattress. What kind would you recommend? I have about 600 dollars to spend. I know its not much for a mattress but i have to pay for this myself and my job only pays so much.

If you can find a place like the "dump" or an outlet furniture store- you can get great deals.  I know someone who got a queen foam contour Sealy's mattress for $300.00!  She had plenty to buy a new sheets set and comforter!

I have a Sealy and I really like it. I think it was about $500 for a queen. My highest recommendation is just go to a furniture store and lay down on every bed in your price range. If you can't find one you like, keep going to different stores. It took me 3 different stores to find the one I have. I was really close to getting a Lebeda mattress, but when I laid down on this Sealy, none of the other mattresses compared to it.

Mattresses are very individual.What is good for me would not necessarily be right for you. Just go to the mattress departments and try out some. Don't buy right away. Try a lot of different places. Don't be embarrassed,lie on the bed as you normally would at night (some people sleep on their sides others on their stomachs or back) so you can't tell just by sitting on the bed! I've had Sealy's and Springwall mattresses which were both very comfortable. If you sleep with someone else,be sure to take them along for the trials. There's nothing like getting a mattress that is so soft you roll into the other person because they are heavier than you.

I don't envy you. The mattress industry is a real racket. Each store has a different name on what is probably the same mattress, so it makes it impossible to comparison shop to get the best deal. Ten different salesmen will give you 10 different stories about how theirs is the best. Simmons probably makes more mattresses than anyone so that's what you're likely to see. The only way is to lay on the prospective mattress and see how it feels. Even then you don't know for sure how well it will hold up over the long haul. Look for the best guarantee and hope for the best.
