  1. Dramamine is really effective.

If you're looking for a more natural remedy, try a pressure point bracelet, or sprinkle a few drops of peppermint oil onto a tissue and inhale every now and then.

  2. dont really worry about it. we went on our first cruise last may and you dont feel the boat move. www.myspace.com/jimmycody

  3. Dramamine is the old standby.  They have these rubber bracelets that you can wear that is supposed to help too but most people can get their 'sea legs' within 24 hours of any boat and a cruise ship is pretty gentle you won't feel like your on a boat its more like a city that moves.

  4. Dramamine always made me sleepy. Marizene worked great. I've also had pretty good luck with the wristbands. I do a lot of saltwater fishing in a small boat, lots of tossing and turning. I didn't feel very much motion at all on the cruise I went on. We had 15 family members, one got motion sick, but she was a little ill before that. The Marizene straightened her right out, even after she was feeling miserable. I swear by that stuff!

  5. The Sea-Band

This worked for me on my cruise... it was a lifesaver!!!

    Have fun!!

  6. you shouldn't b going o na cruise in the first place lol! i'd always worry those things wouldn't work or something

  7. Sea sickness is not an issue when travelling on a cruise as the ship has built in stabilisers to eradicates any issues of sea turbulence.

Your ships Doctor will have medication if you do feel sick, but you could take something like Stugeron, please read guidelines before taking.

You will notice when you leave the ship for a couple of days after the cruise that it still feels slightly that you are at sea but this will soon disappear.

  8. Dramamine

  9. I like "BONINE", it's flavored like a piece of candy, that requires NO water, to take. Take it about an hour before the boat leaves, it's good for 24 hrs... I get sea sick but, I'm lucky (I'm told) because, I get the "GOOD" kind of "Sea Sick", where after I "Toss the cookies", I feel relieved, and it's gone, and OVER ! It's not the hard rocking that gets me, it's the slow constant rocking, and if I ever get a whiff of Diesel Exhaust, "I Immediately "Launch THE SHUTTLE", for some reason "Diesel Fumes" smell's like "SH-T" to me but, only on the water, kooky but, true (for me).

getting sea sick actually occurs in your ear, there is fliud in the ear, that tells when things are stable, running, walking, upside down, stairs, etc.. A boat is an inherently unstable platform, thus confusing the brain, from the signals from the ear. Sea Sick pills "SHUNT" the signals from the auditory canal in the ear, so that the brain does not get confused to direction. Vomiting is the way the body brings you down low to the floor, to stop the swinging of your head (like a pendulum effect). Many pills contain something close to a truth syrum to shunt the auditory canal in the ear, don't take too much and spend some time next to your wife or G/F, lol, it's tru, it won't make you blab away your past but, it is very similar to "Truth Syrum" I think it's "Sodium Pentathol" (Not Sure). Good Luck, stay out on deck as much as possible, keep your eyes on the fixed line of the horizion, don't look at the bow going through the water, make it a game, keep a sharp eye out for Dolphin's, they like to ride the bow wave of the ship, and are fun to watch, they'll show up for sure !

  10. Buy something against headaches and vomitting.

  11. Well, Dramamine is the standard bearer of the "what should I take on a cruise for sea sickness" title. However, Dramamine doesn't work in everyone, and can cause extreme drowsiness in others (including myself. I recently spent a 'day at sea' aboard the Zenith with a lounge chair and a towel for a blanket comfortably asleep...for 14 hours...though pretty much everyone else on the ship did the same). I usually don't get sea sick (we had pretty rough seas), so I only can give you advice based on what my traveling companions use.

My advice would be to talk to your doctor to see if they can prescribe the "seasickness patch". It's a discrete little circular patch placed behind the ear which works for 24 hours straight. You see them a lot more these days, leading me to suspect they're offered over the counter now, but I know my mum always requests them from her doctor (also an avid cruiser...so it might be more of a brand recommendation than anything else). However, they seem to work without the drowsiness factor and medically are pretty capable at delivering the medicine.

Those "bracelets" are also pretty good, though not as good as the patch from what I hear. They are though more widely available.

Bonine is also almost as widely recommended as Dramamine. I have little experience with it however.

My ultimate advice would be the patch (or bracelet, but not both), plus a backup supply of Dramamine.

  12. dramamine is what i have always heard works.

  13. dramamine or gravel will work just fine

Good Luck and have a bag with you lol

  14. Ginger pills always worked for me. Dramamine makes me sleepy and I can't enjoy every minute if I am sleepy.  I have been on a dozen cruises and most of them do not get really rough seas.  The roughest seas I had were on a transatlantic crossing  between Greenland and Newfoundland in Level 7 seas.  It was pretty interesting but ginger did the trick.  I just take it every day we are sailing and life is a groove.  Enjoy your cruise!

  15. I dont know if there is anything that is specifically for sea sick because sea sick is caused by the water balance in your ears...

  16. Oh........ let me tell you. I use Dramamine when we go fishing in small boats, if it works for me on a small boats you should not have any problems on your cruise, since the ship is huge, heavier and more stable than little vessels. You might want to do some research ahead of time to make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients in it.

Good Luck & Have fun on your trip :)

  17. Transderm-Scop(scopolamine) patches:   Apply prior to getting on ship and change every three days.  Requires prescription.  Best thing out there.

  18. Sea sickness happens to everyone and I recommend Dramamine as it works wonders and they have non drowsy and 12 or 24 hour tablets and it comes in a tube that looks liek chapstick so its convenient. Or you could wait until the cruise and they sell the little patches you stick on your temple and that helps and then they have shots and if you go down to the doctors office they have aspirin or pills that you can take or you could just get a shot that last quite a while but just dont think about ti and you should be okay with the medication and its not uncommon as some ships rock alot mroe then others especially the higher up you are so be careful on stairs in heels while its doing that.
