He is in construction and the surface will get marred or bent easily if not made from a very strong metal.

  1. Tungston carbide.

  2. Mine too!

    Titanium or Tungsten.  They are both about the same level of durability and indestructible.  One just feels heavier on the hand than the other.  Some men like the super light weight, others like my HTB enjoy the heavier ring that is closer to the feel of gold as a reminder.  Try both on and see which he prefers.  You should know though that neither can be resized.  Instead, the jeweler will trade his ring in for a brand new one with the same design.

    You can even get rings made with carbon fiber or concrete and stainless steel if you want something unique with a nod to his construction background.  You will need to order them offline though since most jewelers won't carry unusual materials like that.

    If you do go with gold for the coloring then get a lower mixture like 10k.  Because there is less gold in it the ring will be a little harder.

    Platinum would be a no, no in this situation.  It's very soft AND very expensive.

  3. Titanium is probably the most durable, but also the most expensive.

    As you can see, you can get them with gold plating or plain steel. They also have special durability treatments;

  6. Tungsten or titanium..

    You might consider him not wearing a ring at work as it can easily become caught in/on machinery etc. dislocating, breaking or fully removing his finger...

    I have a friend Jacques who worked in manufacturing his wedding ring became caught in a piece of equipment, pulling him into the machine...  He lost his finger and left eye which was gouged out on a k**b of the machine as he was pulled in... Easily avoidable by simply not wearing the ring in the work environment...
