What kind of modem do I need

I have a HP Pavilion A620N and I wanted to find out that if I can buy any kind of modem and connect it to the computer to get internet?

Your Pavilion has a built in network card, so all you need is a modem from your internet provider, which should come with your service. Its the isp that determines what modem you need. New modems are not like the old dial up modems that you could install and go online. The internet service provider (isp) will determine the modem. Do not run out and buy one until you have spoken with your isp. They may give you one.
