  1. Just as Flying Dragon stated above, I too performed a search but using PubChem. The link to their compound search is below. All you have to do is choose "molecular formula" for your search type and for this question you would input "C5H706". Apparently there is no compound made up of such molecules. A search for "H2O" on the same site will definitely return the water molecule though.

  2. They have formula indexes in chemical supplier catalogs and other books where it would list the names of all isomeric compounds with that formula.

I looked for C5H7O6 in the CRC handbook and in the Merck Index and could not find a listing for this formula.

It could be a recently developed compound which is not in the books yet, or maybe you have the numbers wrong or interchanged.

    Added:

There are some formulas that are "impossible" because there is no way to arrange the atoms given such that you get a neutral compound that satisfies the rules for bonding (no empty bonds left over; no atoms forced to have more bonds than they normally would form).

  3. I believe this molecule is impossible.

A molecule composed only of oxygen,  hydrogen and carbon must have an even number of hydrogen atoms.   Always.

To have an odd number,  there must be an odd number of nitrogen atoms in the molecule or an odd number of halogens in the molecule or the total of nitrogens plus halogens must be odd.

Try it out.   You'll see what I mean.

  4. The only reference I can find to this formula is as a portion of a patented allantoinate ascorbic acid compound. Either this is a recently discovered acidic compound similar to ascorbic acid or it is a misprint.

  5. Spectrochimica Acta?
