Question:

What kind of moth or butterfly does a corn worm become?

I'm in New England. The worms are obviously a caterpillar. Despite what they did to the corn, they are pretty cute green ones. The thing was ravenous and didn't leave the cutting board while I left the piece of corn on it. I had to convince the kids that we couldn't take care of it. We let it go and now I don't know what it will become.

  2. Corn earworms are caterpillars that form into moths. They are very destructive and a very common pest here in Australia. The caterpillars show different colouration depending on their food source(from brown to light green).

    Their host crops include sunflower, millet, lettuce, oats, wheat, citrus, tomatoes, corn etc. They are really not fussy eaters.

    By making holes in leaves and stem, therefore causing the plants to rot.  

    The caterpillars spend a short time eating and then overwinter as a  pupae undergrown. Then the moth will emerge about 2 weeks depending on the climate.
