What kind of mountain bike would be used for enduro racing, plain trail riding occasional rocky roads and?

I have a gary fisher marlin and it has great controll on rocks and I have yet to brake any thing in it jumping (10 foot jumps).

you would need a nic ehardtail mountain bike with 120 - 140 mm suspension  dont get a full suspenion because you wont nee d it as much but  i use a hardtail with 120mm suspenion and its nice for a lot of things such as jumping, trails and light free ride

If I were to have just one do-it-all bike it would be a Giant Trance. As far as helmets go anything a bike shop has will do the trick.

anything with 4" of Travel front and rear would be perfect, like an Ellsworth truth or Gary Fisher HiFi and its varients

I would recommend a all mountain type bike.  These bikes are stronger and can take more abuse then a XC bike. BMC, Yetti, Specialized, Iron horse, just to name a few company's make good all mountain bikes.  Just a regular helmet will work.
