I'm writing a coming of age story set in the 90's, I think I've got a lot of the 90's covered i.e. Baby doll dresses, Tommy Jean- but different perspectives would help. So all of you who were teens in the nineties (like me) lend me a hand and share what you like in the 90's and what you liked in the 90's

  1. Mostly baby clothes :D I was born at the beginning of the 90's so then later on I think I just wore really bright pinks and greens, my hair was always in a pony tail and I had huuuuuge bangs that were really big, frizzy, and puffy hahaha

  2. i would say that is g*y a lot!

  3. hip huggers, wide leg jeans, and bellbottoms made a comeback in the 90's. Nike and Fila products were huge, Starter coats and clothes was huge. phrases that I can recall are Don't sweat me, whats up.  TLC and SaltNPeppa was big.

If I remember more I'll edit

  4. i was born in the 90s, whack, toe-up, the bomb, for slang. clothes is covered...

  5. anything considered "futuristic looking" in the late nineties. I remember overalls too...

  6. i wore leggings, scrunchies, tucked my sports pants into my sneakers, wore headbands all the time, listened religously to the spice girls, everyone i knew wore sleeveless puffer jackets and the thing that was coming off everyones lips was 'talk to the hand coz the face aint listenin!'

i miss having a defined culture. now that we're in the 00s its all just a mixture and revival of past times. it makes me sad.

  7. i had one of those mushroom cuts... and was obsessed with the backstreet boys and the spice girls.

neon colours were big, and i think the "air budd" and "Jurassic park" movies were big.(i think)

hmmm, i forget the slang. i think i was too young to use slang  : /

EDIT--   haha, i DO remember the "talk to the hand cuz the face aint listening" thing like the first answerer said

  8. I was a teenager in the mid-late 90s so I can help you. We wore layered skirts with leggings and usually the leggings had lace fringe on the bottom, vests were popular at sometime, wide legged pants and jeans, body suits paired with wide legged jeans, plaid shirts that buttoned up, overalls sometimes with one strap down, Cross Colors (you can Google this image). And lots of big hair and scrunchies! Towards the end of the decade it was a lot of baby doll shirts and dresses, Mary Janes, platform shoes, mini skirts, plaid skirts, and really cutesy stuff.

Slang-Fresh, da bomb, trippin', dope, phat, fine(meaning hot "he/she is fine)...

That's all that I can remember, it brought back some fun memories!
