It really depends on the kid. He might like rock all the way to rap. I'm pretty sure he won't like pop or R&B though.

Well not all of them listen to the same thing but my boyfriend is 13 and these are the bands he listens to

ESCAPE THE FATE, the killers, black tide, from first to last, rise against, vampire weekend, hawthorne heights, aiden, senses fail, metro station, sing it loud, ESCAPE THE FATE, jet black stare, bullet for my valentine, mcr, weezer, we the kings, the all american rejects, thin eyes bleed, the sleeping, hawk nelson and ESCAPE THE FATE......

Well I'm 14 but I like 3 days grace linkin park yellowcard nickelback breaking benjamin.

Those are pretty good bands.
