Question:

What kind of music do people listen to in St. Martin? What are some artists and such?

I read online (on some VERY obscure websites) that they listen to calypso, zuca, merengue, and salsa, with heavy Dominican Republic influences, but does that mean that they make their own music... or is it just D.R. music that they listen to?

I am doing a project for school and for my booth of St. Martin, I want to play some music, but I want it to be accurate. So, if they DO listen to music from the D.R., then I wouldn't mind playing it... I just don't want to play music that wouldn't match the country. But I mean... I can't really find any artists actually FROM St. Martin... So... Any help would be appreciated!

The following music arists were born in St Martin/St Maarten. Do a search on them

    Tanny & the Boys

    Impakt Band

    La Vaune Henry

I didn't hear much salsa, merengue music when I was on island. So don't play DR music. Mostly reggae, calypso, jazz and pop.

Good Luck, I hope this helps. Good Luck on your project)
