  1. We're having a 5 piece jazz band (with a vocalist) for our reception.  I don't have/won't have a bunch of songs picked out for every "event" that will happen during the evening.  I think the silly bridal party entrance song is well ... silly.  We'll probably just get the band to play some jazz standard, it's a pretty short walk anyway. lol.

For our first dance we're bringing a CD with Ron Sexsmith's "Fellen"  and for the father/daughter dance it will be "Look to the Rainbow" by Astrud Giberto, also on CD.  My fiance hasn't picked the mother/son dance song yet.  Probably a jazz standard too.

Other than that it will be a great mix of jazz all night!  Fast paced stuff to dance to, and standards to slow dance too, and things that are nice to sit and chat to.  We're not bug dancers so we want some dancing, but we're not ones to dance the night away.

  2. Here's what we did:

Bridal Party Intro Song: Jock Jams Ready to Rumble

Couple Intro Song: s**y Back -- Justin Timberlake

1st Dance: I Will Be Here -- Steven Curtis Chapman

    Dinner Music: Instrumental

Father-Daughter Dance: Because You Loved Me -- Celine Dion

Mother-Son Dance: Do I Make You Proud – Taylor Hicks

Anniversary Dance: Beautiful in My Eyes -- Joshua Kadison

Cake Cutting Song: Pour Some Sugar on Me -- Def Leppard

Bouquet Toss: Girls Girls Girls -- Motley Crue

    Garter Removal: Milkshake -- Kelis

    Garter Toss:Whatta Man -- Salt N Pepa

Garter and Bouquet Catchers: I’m Too s**y -- Right Said Fred

Last Dance: At the Beginning -- Donna Lewis

    Other slow songs I requested:

    True Companion - Mark Cohn

When God Made You – NewSong

Grow Old With Me – Mary Chapin Carpenter

  3. just have a good assortment so that everyone at the reception has a good time. of course your special songs should be whatever you like, and a good d.j. helps bring everything together, make sure to get references,.

  4. I'm finding myself completely enamored with the old classics: Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Stevie Wonder, the Flamingos, Michael Buble covers of oldies...

For fast songs, I've got some current artists in there too, like Rihanna, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez,  Ne-Yo, etc.. Only the danceable stuff that's tasteful (nothing dirty).

I've also got Keith Urban, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Edwin McCain, Elton John, Celine Dion, etc. for slow songs.

And I couldn't resist having the Cha Cha Slide and the Electric Slide.. They're dorky, but so am I! And they're so much fun!

Basically, my song choices for the reception reflect my highly-varied taste in music in general.
