What kind of nut do I need for my Giant bike's front tire?

I have a Giant Mountain bike I bought about 6 years ago. One of the nuts has come off the rear tire. I've been trying to find a replacement with no luck. I tried a fine thread 3/8" nut but it won't s***w on. Any suggestions on where I can find a nut that will work?

  1. take the remaining good nut to the local bike store and buy a few more just like it.

    Probably about $1.

  2. Could it be that the nut is measured in milli-meters, not inches, especially if it's foreign made?

Hope you kept the parts manual, that came with bike, that tells specs on all the parts, and also how to order broken, or lost parts.

You might try to look up the manufactuerer on the web, or go to the dealer that sold you the bike.

Guess you've tried all that?  If so, only other suggestion is to find a "junked" or damaged bike, maybe at a Bike Ralley,, and buy it for parts, and to get the nut you need.

  3. hmmmmm
