What kind and weight of oil should i use in my yamaha v star 650.

  1. Amsoil 4 stroke 10W-30. It is the best oil on the market. It may seem kind of expensive, but the oil lasts longer, you'll get better fuel efficiency, and your engine will last a lot longer. It's truly a great product. I use it myself. Just go to www.amsoil.com for more info. Good luck to ya.  


  2. Follow manufactures recommendations.

  3. 10W-40 or 20W/50(in the summer) as it is lubricating the transmission gears.

  4. The best brand oil is the manufacturers oil, yamalube or whatever they call it.

    As for the weight you're gonna have to check the specs for that. Probably in the 10-30w range.
