What kind of oil would you use for butcher block kitchen counters?

  1. Food grade mineral oil is the most readily available, least expensive, and will not turn rancid.

    Food Grade coconut oil is also a very stable, rancidity resistant oil.

    You could finish the counters off with beeswax top coat, which will seal the countertop against moisture and bacteria.  Once it has had time to dry you can buff it to a high shine.
