Im not looking to paint the castiron parts, they are still new. But the steel hot plate and unit t self are kinda nasty. My buddy and I were debating engine paint, like in a spry can, but are uncertain. It has a thick coat of paint but we can't figure out exactly what kind it is. This unit also acts as a stove and is ment to be used in doors, so the paint would have to be as such. Thanks guys! You all Rock!

  1. If you must there is paint made for hot surfaces.  One being stove paint.  But if you are going to heat with it I would strip it and leave it bare due to the air quality issue.  And you can never pickle it like they probably did when they built it.  And no paint will hold up if the metal begins to glow cherry.    I have two tent stoves for heating deer blinds that are just sheet metal.  They came bare and shiny.  Now they are bare and not shiny.

  2. Rustoleum makes a high heat spray paint, in black, almond, and white.  It was designed to be used on grills, both charcoal, propane, and electric.

You can purchase it at any Home Depot

It withstands heat up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit
