  1. Growing up we had 2 african grey parrots. They are nice put its best to keep them in a cage. We had 2 dogs (a lab and a chihuahua) and one cat that was an indoor cat. There were also two kids in the house but we always had company. They are fun and love to mimick people.

  2. Wait till your kids are older and you have less animals, parrots need a lot of attention.  They are all messy and not quiet.

  3. Well you will never find a parrot that is quiet or not messy. Especially if you are looking for a big parrot. My small peach fronted conure can be very loud at times when he does not get his way. Also we are always being attacked by flying food from his perch. Parrots are a big responsibility and take a  lot of time and work. I also have a dog, cats, hamster and fish and by far Cozmo is the most work. If you really want a bird I would suggest a simple cockatiel they are not as big as you would want but they are a beginner bird who has the ability to talk and seem to be on the easier side. Remember to that parrots can live a long time. My small conure has the ability to live 30 years give or take a few. Getting a parrot is a life time commitment. Good luck with your new family member.
