  1. Usually the rich attended Ancient Greek theatres. They were the only ones who could afford it/ or were actually knowledged enough to understand. However the poor did also attend, though they usually were there illegally and out of the way, peering in on the show behind anything they could hide behind.

  2. Before c. 5 BC it is true that only rich people would attend ancient greek theaters. However, in c. 5 BC Pericles forced the so-called " theorika" which is the free entrance of poor people to the theater

    Add:"Pericles extended the representation of the democratic regime, with the attendance in the rank of nine sovereigns and citizens from the order Zeugotes, as much as in beneficial rights to the poor citizens, as the judiciary and Theorika."
