I am a former Marine Embassy Guard and when I was posted in West Africa I met some people that were affected by land mines, and ever since I have wanted to go back and get into humanitarian mineclearance. so once I got out I became an Unexploded Ordnance Tech thinking that would be the best way to make it over there, (thats what I was told) but it seems like I hit a dead end... and nobody seems to be able to point me in the right direction.

so seriously! any idea's?

  1. From the website below.

"HALO is looking for leaders who will be resourceful, adaptable, resilient, self-motivated and prepared to work in remote and challenging environments, away from e-mail and sometimes any form of social life for extended periods. In addition to the day-to-day management of mineclearance operations the responsibilities include: liaison with Government, the diplomatic community, police, military and other NGOs as well as the less glamorous activities of financial accounting, administration and logistics. Expatriates can be promoted to manage a national programme within two years of joining HALO. Previous leadership experience in the Armed Forces may be to the applicant’s advantage, but it is not a prerequisite – our current employees come from a very wide range of backgrounds."

Good luck, it is great to see someone wanting to make a difference!
