Question:

What kind of plant is this and how does one take care of it?

We have a plant here at work that isn't doing to well. Have no idea what kind of plant it is or how to take care of it.

Here's some pictures that I took that might help somebody identify the plant. The plant is like 7 feet tall and has a few leaves shaped like pears.

  1. It looks like a fiddle leaf fig ficus. Check the water level. You're probably watering too much. Stick your finger knuckle deep in. If dirt sticks to your finger, it's plenty moist. When it does get dry, water the entire dirt area and let it stand in water for ten minutes. It needs a good soaking, but don't let it stand for more than 15 min.


  2. It's a fiddle-leaf fig!  My uncle showed me one, and after he told me the name I did a double take because the leaves are shaped like a fiddle.
